Rev. Jerry Bishop is the Founder and Pastor of Life Quest, formerly known as a “Church Without Walls,” a ministry for urban young men founded in 1998 to help meet the growing spiritual needs of under-performing urban men outside the current grasp of the traditional church. In 2010 that moniker changed after Life Quest secured ownership of their new site: The Life Quest Urban Outreach Center. This excellent site serves as a community ministry center for six community entities besides Life Quest. Currently, Life Quest engages approximately 1,100 adult men/young men per month in various Life Quest ministry initiatives such as Night Quest, Project R.O.C., Saving Our Sons, and the popular weekly worship event: BROTHER-2-BROTHER. Rev. Bishop has been sharpening his kingdom building skills since 1990 under the pasturing umbrellas of Bishop William Abney, Rev. Melvin Upchurch, and Dr. Clifton Rhodes, Jr. Rev. Bishop, a dynamic speaker, and teacher is also the author of “Transforming Urban Lives” (2002 Matrix Group) and is widely quoted by numerous news outlets. Before full-time ministry, Rev. Bishop enjoyed a successful career in corporate sales within the Telecommunications Industry with several Fortune 50 companies. Rev. Bishop Serves on the Board of Directors for many non-profit corporations was a founding board member of one of Michigan’s first charter schools (Abney Academy) and was appointed by President Bush to serve on the launch of the Faith-based Community Initiatives in 2001. In 2003 Rev. Bishop was presented the prestigious H.C. Toliver Giants Award that annually recognizes “giant” contributions by leaders of the faith community of West Michigan. Currently, Rev. Bishop is readying for the launch of West Michigan’s first all-male charter high school.
